Don't Let
Stress Get You Down - Try Some
Music to Meditate By and
Relax
In these
modern times of stressful living,
many people seek ways of
relieving stress and meditation
has grown in popularity over the
years.
The rise of
New Age enthusiasts and holistic
healing practitioners have
promoted different forms of
meditative techniques. A lot of
people prefer meditation music to
play in the background as it
helps them to focus and escape
from everyday trials and
tribulations.
Relaxation
through music
The great
news is there are plenty of ways
to relax. Maybe a physical
activity is required. You can
take up a sport, martial art or
fitness program. Or, maybe you're
one of those individuals that
believe true relaxation only
comes from not having to do
anything at all.
Hey, I
can't blame you here. If this is
the case, then you need to get
involved with yoga and/or
meditation. There is very little
effort involved and you'll feel
much better. In all honesty, even
meditation music can better your
day. Try lying down on your bed
for 20 minutes and soaking up the
sounds.
A Quick
Musical Story
When I was
in about the 8th grade, I caught
my dad doing something bizarre.
He was lying on his bed,
listening to some surreal
meditation music. I was utterly
shocked. Since when did he become
a Buddhist?
Okay, I
guess that's a little on the
stereotypical side, but I was
young flabbergasted at the time.
Anyway, I asked him what the deal
was, and he told me it was
something he had just gotten
into. A friend of his from work
had recommended meditation music
along with hypnosis tapes.
Yikes!
Hypnosis tapes? Now things were
really turning weird. So, I
eventually decided to give the
meditation music a shot. Even
though I didn't know much about
meditation at the time, other
than it was practiced be ninja
and samurai. I soon discovered
that meditation music aided me in
relaxing.
All I had
to do was relax and close my
eyes. As far as the hypnosis
tapes were concerned, I wasn't
about to try these. I might
accidentally do something I'd
regret.
Who knows
what folks do under the power of
hypnosis. Well, I soon found out.
My dad went into detail about how
hypnosis can control your mind.
He claimed he could go to sleep
for 10 minutes and it felt like
10 hours. Manipulation is the
key.
Meditation
and Relaxing Music
CDs and
downloads of this type of ambient
music are plentiful. They are
advertised as sounds for general
relaxation and for specific forms
of alternate therapy. There is
meditation music, designed to
help people to fall to sleep or
to unwind after anxiety or a
stressful work day.
Other CDs
are promoted for listening to
whilst practicing yoga, pilates,
reiki or tai chi. Certain
therapies are suitable to certain
rhythms and each discipline has
its own repertoire of tunes.
Getting
Proper Sleep
Insomnia is
a great problem for many people
and chill out CDs can be very
helpful. The soothing melodies
lull people into a state of
relaxation and drowsiness. This
builds up a habit of sleep and
people often find that they can
then fall asleep without any
help. Meditation music is also
employed by hypnotherapists, to
relax the patient and by
aromatherapists.
An Internet
radio station, which can be
accessed around the clock,
broadcasts a wide variety of
meditation music. This network is
paid for by commercials but
membership of the network is
offered and members can listen to
uninterrupted broadcasts without
any advertisements.
Types of
Relaxation Music
Recordings
of established pieces of
classical music are also promoted
as meditation music, in addition
to original work by contemporary
composers.
A lot of
chill music tends to use similar
instruments and flute, harp and
piano are very popular. Some
recordings ask the listener to
imagine themselves in a special
place, such as a wood, meadow,
garden or perfect beach. Gentle
woodland sounds, the sound of the
ocean tide coming in or the
tinkling of a stream are
sometimes added to tunes. Indian
sitar music is popular
too.
One of the
most successful exponents of the
genre is Sri Chinmoy. In addition
to producing meditation music
CDs, he performs in concerts and
gives talks on world peace and
how to achieve harmony. He is a
philosopher and a poet, bringing
his view of life to his music. An
accomplished musician, he plays
bamboo flute, the harmonium and a
classical Indian instrument
called the esraj.
Warning:
You may not want to try
meditation music while driving.
Although it's great to kick back,
relax and ditch the routine
stress, you certainly don't want
to nod off.
If you are
searching for a good venue to
relaxation, you may want to
consider meditation music and
courses made for relaxing. Doing
these exercises with music might
relieve your stress and keep you
healthier.
