Listening to Music for Fun – Choice and Safety Tips
If you are like me, listening to music plays an important part in your life. Or, you might be proactive and play a musical instrument or are gifted as a singer.
Either way, it can soothe you when you are excited, excite you when you need it and can be a tranquil place to escape when reality is too real. The reasons to listen to or play music abount but, for me, it’s just plain fun!
Listening To Music – Some Safety Tips to Consider
When I was a kid, my mom always yelled at me about my listening to music habits. She warned me that I was going to have problems later on if I was not careful.
As I went through school for music production, I got the same warnings. Though I did not take things that seriously when I was younger, those messages did sink in. Because I have been around loud music for so long, I do worry about my hearing. I am more careful about things now. Besides those issues, there are some other habits those that love music should think about.
How much loud music can you listen to?
If you are going to be going to clubs once in a while, you may not have to worry about hearing damage from listening to music at that loud level. However, if you go a lot, you should think about what you are doing.
I know that because my husband is in a band, I am exposed more than others. Like me, you should think about listening to music in a club more safely. Make sure you stay away from the speakers, and take breaks by going outside once in a while so that your ears are not constantly bombarded for hours on end.
Frequency
Those that are in a band are probably listening to music more often than most people who just enjoy it. They have the sound on stage they need to hear what they are playing, and they also have the problem of listening through headphones while recording in a studio.
On top of that, because they are so into music, they are probably listening to music all of the time, and they probably listen to it loudly. Try to wear earplugs when you can, and remember to keep the volume down once in a while – like when driving. The smallest things help.
You will know when you are listing to music at too high of a volume for too long of a time when you have constant ringing in the ears when the music has stopped. This can be a huge problem, as sometimes, when this goes on long enough, the ringing will never go away.
Once you have fully developed this problem from listening to music, you may not be able to do anything to get it to go away. In this case, prevention is your only protection from hearing problems of all types.
Music cd and headphones
You can find that there are other problems when you listen to music. If you wear headphones while listening to your digital music player, you may not notice things that could harm you. If you are walking and listening to music, you have to keep the volume down and be more aware of what is going on around you.
You may not hear a car coming your way that does not see you. You can also miss important clues to safety issues when listening to music too loudly in your car. There is a time and place for loud music, just don’t allow yourself to get hurt because of it.
Now that you know, have some fun with music choices
From Rock to Rap, or Country to Pop, the wide range of tunes blasting from radios today is hard to keep up with. The radio and music store no longer rule the kingdom of lyrics and beats, these days our high-speed Internet connections put us in touch with any genre, style, or age of music we may be looking for.
Music choice commonly has to do with age groups and geography, but with our current technology many of us are getting tastes of music we’d have never encountered before.
The Internet allows us to sample any kind of music from any artist and we don’t even have to leave the comfort of our homes. Numerous websites offer individual songs for sale, allowing us to purchase what we please and not bother with songs we don’t care for.
Plenty of music for listening
The great thing about music is the ample supply. We’re always hearing new artists and bands. This ensures us that there is always something for everyone, but let’s face it, the majority of us prefer a variety of music. Our tastes are pretty diverse to say the least.
With tiny Ipods in our hands, we carry these collections of sound everywhere we go if desired. Only now can we jam all of our favorite tunes and artists in one little handheld device.
Music stores most likely suffer from this new age of online suppliers. We no longer have to wait for record stores to put out the latest album when all is located online from a broad selection of businesses. Music choice becomes greater and more diverse as the years go by. When I look back at what our parents had to deal with, it seems unreal.
Listening to music – a personal choice
One of the great things about music choice is how personal it is. Unlike many things, what music we listen to is totally up to us. It’s a complete freedom. Here in the U.S. we are overwhelmed with a deluge of genres and unique sounds that sometimes make it hard to choose.
Buying online for music to listen to
The only downside is not being able to fund your music collection. However, there’s nothing to worry about. If you do your research online, you will locate several ways to purchase and download the music of your choice at the prices you can afford. Music will certainly continue to expand, so keep up on your favorite songs and enjoy listening to your music whenever and wherever you like.
