Promoting
Your Music is
Everything
Becoming
known in the music business is
normally a long struggle. Getting
the word out is everything and
publicity is golden. There aren't
many overnight successes.
Traditionally,
artists would haul themselves
around the pubs and clubs.
Perhaps they'd get a lucky break
and be spotted by a talent scout.
In the meantime, a manager may
trawl round the record studios in
the hope of scoring a recording
contract. Even The Beatles were
rejected several times before EMI
eventually signed
them.

Ways
to Promote Your
Music
Today,
there are different ways
to consider how to
promote your music.
Making use of local
radio spots and local
newspapers can be done
at little expense.
Posters
publicizing gigs can be
done on a decent desktop
publishing package on
your
computer.

When
performing at gigs, it's a good
idea to sell your CDs after the
show. Merchandise, such as mugs
and T-shirts with the band logo,
can also be sold. The simple
ideas are best on how to promote
your music.
Never
Forget Your Fans
Direct
communication with the fans
builds a loyal fan base and they
will reward you over the years.
It's the old adage of never
forgetting where you came from
and remembering who put you
there. You must never rest on
your laurels however. Even
established artists of many years
standing still have to promote
new work.
How the
Internet Will Help Promote
Music
In this age
of the Internet, it is easier
than ever to get your message
across. Every band has its own
web site; offering downloads of
their songs. The Arctic Monkeys
from Sheffield in England went to
number one with their debut
single, purely through fans
accessing their music on the My
Space site. The charts are now
taking downloads into account
when counting sales, in addition
to sales across the counter. The
Internet offers a ready made,
worldwide market and infinite
opportunities on how to promote
your music.
Now You
are Ready to Record
Recording
has never been easier. Record
studios are springing up in every
town. Some artists have even had
chart success after making a
record in their bedroom on the
most basic equipment.
Visual
presentation is also important in
this era of MTV broadcasting.
Making a promotional video is all
part of how to promote your
music. This does not have to be
at great expense. Lots of small
production companies offer video
services. Alternatively, you
could make a video yourself and
buy some cheap editing software.
Obviously, it has to look
reasonably professional but
imagination counts for a
lot.
Just
remember get the word out and
Never Give Up!!!
